Dogs turned in at Hubbard School January 2008

Check with the Loudon County Animal Shelter for these and many more wonderful dogs and cats. http://www.loudoncounty.com/animalshelter/

Where we are

The title of this blog is a misrepresentation because Blount County Tennessee does not have an animal shelter at this time. But a lot of us in rescue are working with the Blount County government to build Blount County a new modern animal shelter that promotes adoption. This shelter will have its own surgery area to care for the animals and make sure any animal adopted is spayed or neutered, thus helping to reduced the number of unwanted pets in Blount County. To learn more about the new shelter visit: http://www.smokymountainanimalcare.org/

At this time, Blount County has only one animal control officer and one animal control dispatcher, and the animals picked up go to the Loudon County Sheter. But these animal control officers are animal lovers and want to see as many animals as possible placed in loving homes. Dispatcher Teresa regularly calls local rescues when ever she see an animal they might be interested in or has me send out emails. She and I have also been taking pictures of the animals turned in on Fridays, owner surrenders and strays day. I have formed an email list where I send these pictures as well as giving information on other animal events that effect Blount County animal lovers. But I have had a request for a location for people to view these animals. So here I am.
